National Operatic and Dramatic Association (NODA)

Who are NODA?

NODA is the national body that represents amateur theatre. Any amateur theatre society can become a member of NODA. NODA was founded in 1899, “to protect and advance the interests of operatic and dramatic art, and of societies engaged therein”. Our membership continues with over 2,000 society members and over 1,000 individual enthusiasts staging musicals, operas, plays, concerts and pantomimes in venues ranging from the country’s leading professional theatres to village halls.

What do they do?

They support and inspire amateur theatre. Their vision is that amateur theatre is successful and sustainable, providing a range of opportunities for people to develop their skills, and enjoy taking part, at all levels.

Mission

NODA’s mission is to support the education and information needs of individuals and organisations with high quality services and products that contribute to the success of amateur theatre as well as encouraging appreciation of the sector by participants and audiences alike.

NODA aims to:

  • Give a shared voice to the amateur theatre sector.
  • Help amateur societies and individuals achieve the highest standards of best practice and performance.
  • Provide leadership and advice to enable the amateur theatre sector to tackle the challenges and opportunities of the 21st century.

How are NODA run?

NODA has an elected council, comprising 11 councillors, the Chairman and the President. Each councillor represents a region, and each region has a committee which works to sustain and promote amateur theatre in their part of the country. There are five staff members at HO based in Peterborough.

AMLWCH SHOWSTOPPERS are proud to be affiliated to NODA, and look forward to the visit from the regional representative to our performances and the feedback we receive.

Amlwch Showstoppers is proud to be able to make use of Amlwch Memorial Hall.

With thanks to the trustees and committee of the hall, we are able to make full use of the facilities - including one of the largest amateur stages in North Wales!

Amlwch Showstoppers are also proud to use our local Sound and Lighting company - MAD Sound and Lighting.

We have been lucky enough to have had their support for many years, from our early days as Amlwch Pantomime Group to the group as it is today.

Their continued support has enabled us to continue to improve the sound and lighting during our shows - THANK YOU!!

Amlwch Showstoppers would like to thank Amlwch's businesses for their continued support in advertising our shows, providing raffle prizes and acting as ticket outlets. Without your support, we would not be able to welcome the community to our group and shows as we do!
